From a program standpoint, he was devastating but on the field that 2002 team is one dimensional, bordering on no-dimensional. If a 6-inch gain was the absolute maximum for a particular play, he gained six inches while anyone else would have lost three yards. Chris Gamble - unbelieveably important AJ Hawk - steady leadership MoC - million dollar legs and a 5-cent head Troy - what happened in Glendale? Teddy Ginn - terrific addition ot return game/WR when offensive spark was minimal

What impressed us most about Clarett was his potential, the idea that he was just a freshman. If that had been a junior or senior year it would not have seemed as stunning. Add to that that he missed games. Add to that the fact that (except for one incredible defensive play) he was not a big factor in the NC game. I'll take a healthy Beanie over a healthy MoC any day. I don't think MoC necessarily had any more potential than what he showed us in 2002. He was polished as a runner. His vision gave him yards in spite of the terrible line play - look at what happened to the offense when he was out and more specifically in 2003 when he was no longer. His vision was extraordinary, and allowed him to string out plays and turn it upfield when he saw the crease for a two yard gain. Other RBs would have been tackled in the backfield. He was an adequate receiver. But even with the injuries, he was a leader. Maybe at times a malcontent on the sidelines, but he was into the game in a way that I have seen no Senior. Maybe he was a nuisance to JT during the game, but it surely didn't seem that way. When he got the stinger against scUM that looked as bad as the one that knocked him out earlier in the year, it was devastating. When he shook it off to run for over 100 while scUM was deliverately going after that shoulder was inspiring. And while his speed wasn't the greatest, he had another gear for the game. He did have some jets but, more importantly, a will to just get it done. The greatest play I have ever seen in my lifetime was the forced fumble and recovery from Sean Taylor's pick. I thought for sure the refs weren't going to see it and Miami would get the ball, but it was the gutsiest, most athletic, most tide-turning, most "made something out of nothing" play I have ever seen. MoC might have developed into a greater player than he was in '02, or he might have peaked like the Big Kat did in his Freshman year. But he had it.
