If major cataclysmic events happen as a result (and this is the part where I have doubts), all living things on Earth will either evolve and adapt or die if they can't. That's how it's always been and will be. If a good chunk of civilization bites the dust because of global warming, so be it. This planet could probably use a major corrective action anyway. Nature will take care of itself one way or another, and humanity just a blink of the eye in Earth's existence. That may be a cold and nasty attitude, and I'm not saying we don't need to make some major changes in consumption and pollution habits worldwide, but a little shaking of the ol' snowglobe might not be a bad thing. Additionally, I'm not sure those who truly believe that our reward or a better life awaits elsewhere after we depart here (which I think includes people from a good number of the major religions) shouldn't be too upset about the threat of a warmer planet if the worst that can happen is they get to go there.
