If the Cavs had any semblance of that during this year's run, they might have been champions. Orlande, of course, is already a much different team than the ones the Cavs faced. 2. I have a feeling Kobe's win this year will keep Shaq extremely focused through out 09-10. And the Cavs will pull out all the stops to help get Lebron to the championship and a long term deal to stay in cleveland. Had they not made any moves, the chances of Lebron leaving would have been greater.

As in rings before Kobe does. I think he will come in determined and in great shape. It should be interesting and as a Cavs fan I have mixed feelings. We will see. I'd like to be cowboys from Arizona or pimps from Oakland but it's not Halloween. Grow up; Peter Pan, Count Chocula.

I think a lot of it depends on what's motivating Shaq at the time. Clearly he's going to be motivated to one up Kobe, so that works in Cleveland's favor. It was his motivation in Miami as well. I'd probably say that Dwayne played well with Shaq more so than the other way around. Dwayne was only a third year player at the time, iirc, so he just deferred to Shaq and never stepped on his toes (he certainly could have made that Christmas day game as much of a Kobe v Dwayne game as it was Kobe v Shaq). He certainly wasn't going to try to tell Shaq what to do. I am sure his personality (and the other veterans) pushed Van Gundy out the door in favor of Riley. Van Gundy is an in your face coach and he wasn't going to work well with Shaq and the other vets looking to cap their careers with a title. A year or two later, Shaq had a falling out with Riley too as well, iirc, b/c he really wasn't very motivated and b/c the team had the audacity to tell him to get into shape (virtually the same complaint Kobe had) and maybe get his foot looked at some time during the off season so he would be prepared for the regular season. LeBron is an NBA star and his star is bigger than Shaq's now. Shaq will not be the voice people are seeking when talking about the Cavs. It's not a foregone conclusion as to how he's going to react to that.

When giving up Ben Wallace, Sasha (who never panned out) and a draft pick, I just don't see what there is to be upset about. Even if Shaq's body gets run down and he can't go in the playoffs, is that a dropoff from the Wallace/Pavlovic production numbers?

My mixed feelings comes from a couple different things-could we have used their contracts for a younger star, will Shaq conceed to Bron and not ruin chemistry, will he clog the lane from Bron, will he stay healthy and productive. Overall, I like the move and think we upgraded but I still have somewhat mixed feelings. It has nothing to do with getting rid if Wallace and Sasha. I knew they were gone and am glad. If Wallace got bought out and he wants to play another year I wouldnt mind bringing him in as an end of the bench player for cheap. Sasha can stay away. I'd like to be cowboys from Arizona or pimps from Oakland but it's not Halloween. Grow up; Peter Pan, Count Chocula.

Maybe it's from Chic's Shaq-to-English translator, or maybe it's the way he speaks, but there is quite a bit of past tense in that quote when it comes to Z.
