Buckeye Birthdays
Bob Karch (1894) - Tackle
lettered 1915-16-17
pro career 1922-1923 (Columbus Panhandles/Louisville Brecks)
Karch was a starter as a sophomore and helped the team to a 5-1-1 record. In 1916 the Buckeyes had their first perfect season and Karch was named as an All American along with Chic Harley. After Karch's playing career ended, he became an NFL referee, where he stayed for 40 years.
Chuck Csuri (1922) - Tackle
lettered 1941-42-46
Varsity "O" Hall of Fame 1993
Csuri was an All American on the 1942 national champion team, and voted team MVP by his teammates. He was also voted team captain for the 1943 season, but left for WWII before that season started. After the war, he joined the OSU faculty in the fine arts department. In the 1960s he studied computers and applied them to his work, and is acknowledged today as "the father of computer art."
Marco Cooper (1982) - Linebacker
lettered 2000-01
Cooper appeared in 17 Ohio State games and had 12 total tackles. In April 2002, he was pulled over for failing to stop at a red light and was discovered carrying a bag of 12 ecstasy pills, a marijuana pipe, a Glock 19.9 mm handgun, and eight hollow-point bullets. That November he was sentenced to five years of probation and 100 hours of community service. A month later he was pulled over again carrying crack cocaine. When Tom Friend needed corroboration for Maurice Clarett's accusations against the program, Marco Cooper was the most credible source he could find.
